June 2007 I arrived in Rome, Italy. Moving out of Lithuania to pursue my dreams of dancing, I was filled with trepidation and excitement to this infamous city. The beginning was challenging, not knowing the language and I had no friends and family. But this ancient city lived up to its reputation, it is inspirational from the Coliseum, the great Roman aqueduct to the Spanish Steps, every corner you turn you find a story that is at least a couple thousand years old. Looking back I couldn’t have found a better place than Rome to start my new chapter, my story. It was difficult at times but it is in these times that we look within to find our purpose in life. I always say to my friends and students La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful). I am stronger and more passionate about life because I endured both good and challenging times. So to start the new year of 2012, my new year’s resolution to myself and a challenge to everyone is to step out of your comfort zone and live a little.
